Merlot is an early-ripening variety that can turn jammy and one-dimensional in a hot vintage — Devon Valley’s cooler microclimate is what keeps this one honest. Grapes were left on the vine long enough to build proper flavour concentration without losing acidity. In the cellar, the winemaking stays classical: careful extraction to draw out colour and structure without over-working the fruit, followed by maturation in oak that adds spice and texture rather than dominating the wine.
The result is a Merlot with more backbone than the variety usually shows — fruit-forward, but with genuine structure underneath.

Colour: Deep ruby red with youthful purple highlights.
On the nose: Expressive ripe red berries, black cherry and plum, lifted by hints of star anise, a gentle smokiness and subtle oak spice.
On the palate: Medium-bodied and supple — juicy red and dark fruit carried by soft tannins and a rounded mouthfeel. The oak sits in the background, adding depth and texture without crowding the fruit.
Finish: Smooth and lingering, with ripe berries, sweet spice and a delicate savoury note to close.
