The Producer
The Vondeling Lifestyle Collection draws on the estate’s everyday range. Vondeling farms the Paardeberg north-west of Paarl on ancient decomposed granite, and this tier is where that fruit goes when the aim is a wine to open tonight rather than keep.
Vintage & Terroir
The same granite that carries the estate’s flagship reds sits under these vineyards, and the cool Atlantic air that reaches the Voor-Paardeberg at night is what keeps the whites fresh. The case spans two harvests — the Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé from 2025, the Baldrick Shiraz from 2024.
In the Cellar
This is the estate’s unoaked and lightly oaked end. The whites are handled reductively and bottled young to keep aromatics intact; the Baldrick Shiraz is the range’s red, made for approachability rather than structure. None of the three is built for cellaring, and none is priced as though it were.
Tasting Notes
A white, a rosé and a red, chosen to cover a table rather than a tasting. Serve the Sauvignon Blanc and the Rosé properly cold; give the Shiraz twenty minutes open.
The Sauvignon Blanc 2025 and the Rosé 2025 are each rated 85/100, 3.5 stars, Very good/promising — Platter’s By Diners Club Wine Guide, 2026 edition. For the Shiraz, the 2023 vintage was rated 87/100, 4 stars, Excellent — Platter’s By Diners Club Wine Guide, 2026 edition; the 2024 in this case has not yet been rated, as Platter’s is published once a year in late November.
Food Pairing
A summer lunch case. The Sauvignon Blanc wants West Coast mussels or a goat’s cheese salad; the Rosé handles snoek, charcuterie and anything eaten outside; the Shiraz takes boerewors, a lamb burger or a Tuesday-night bolognese. Six bottles to a case — order yours and keep the Tribe fed.
