Robertson limestone soils, Breede River water, and a bridge that became a legend.
Alvis Drift takes its name from the low-water bridge over the Breede River — built by patriarch Albertus Viljoen “Oupa Alvi” van der Merwe back in 1930. His son Bertie started wine production on the family farm, and today Bertie’s son, winemaker Alvi van der Merwe, produces the range enjoyed by wine lovers across the globe. Three generations of the same family farming the same limestone soils in Robertson’s Breede River Valley. The result: a lineup that runs from a 4.5-star Platter’s red blend to a Trophy-winning Cap Classique. From R120/bottle, at Vinty.
