Description
Taste a Piece of Stellenbosch History
More than just a name, the “Tin Mine Red” pays homage to a forgotten corner of Stellenbosch history. In the early 1900s, tin was discovered on the slopes of the Helderberg mountains where Zevenwacht Wine Estate now stands. While the mine was short-lived, its legacy endures in the mineral-rich soils that give this wine its unique structure and depth. Each bottle is a tribute to the pioneering spirit of the estate and the unique terroir it calls home.
In the Glass: A Winemaker’s Craft
This classic Rhône-style blend is a masterful combination of three noble grape varieties:
- Shiraz (60%): Forms the backbone of the wine, offering bold flavours of ripe plum, black cherry, and a signature hint of black pepper spice.
- Mourvèdre (25%): Lends an elegant structure, earthy notes, and savoury tannins that promise excellent aging potential.
- Grenache (15%): Adds a layer of juicy red fruit, like raspberry and cranberry, along with a touch of aromatic garrigue.
The result is a beautifully integrated wine with a rich, velvety palate, balanced by fresh acidity and a long, satisfying finish. Expect notes of dark fruit, cedar, and subtle spice, all wrapped in silky-smooth tannins.
