Description
From the Signature Reserve Range
The Guardian stands as a proud member of Stettyn’s Signature Reserve range—a collection of their finest, wood-matured wines crafted for complexity and aging potential. The label features the Griffin, a mythical protector of treasure, symbolising the winery’s commitment to safeguarding the quality and integrity of their best wines.
A Masterclass in Blending
This is a powerful and complex red, showcasing a skillful blend where each component plays a vital role:
- Cabernet Sauvignon (54%): Brings great intensity, power, and a classic structural backbone to the wine, ensuring longevity.
- Shiraz (31%): Adds aromatic notes of smoke, rich black fruit, and a characteristic pepper spice.
- Durif (15%): The blend’s secret weapon, delivering a deep, opaque colour, high levels of antioxidants, and attractive, weighted tannins.
After 18 months maturing in a combination of French and Hungarian oak barrels, the result is a seamlessly integrated and well-balanced wine, ready to be enjoyed now or cellared for years to come.
In the Glass: Deep, Dark & Generous
The Guardian pours an intense, deep garnet hue. The nose is rich with spice-tinged aromas of dark berries, enhanced by an elegant, delicate nose of plums. On the palate, it is full-bodied and complex with a core of dark fruit, supported by well-integrated tannins that provide both structure and a smooth, lasting finish.
The Ultimate Food Wine
Crafted for rich and flavourful dishes, this is the definitive red for a special meal. The winery specifically recommends pairing it with:
-
- Slow-roast lamb with cinnamon, fennel & citrus
- Beef Steak with mushroom puff tartlets
– Fillet with beetroot & horseradish
