Description
Opstal Sixpence Rosé 2024 is a refreshing tribute to a legend of the Slanghoek Valley.
In the 1950s and 60s, Daniel “Sixpence” Smiles worked as Opstal’s shepherd. As time passed, vines replaced his pastures. Today, those same vineyards produce this easy-drinking rosé in his honour.
The grapes grow in sandy soil full of river pebbles on the valley’s western slopes. Because the soil holds little water, the team adds mulch and compost to keep it healthy.
They gently pressed the grapes with only a few hours of skin contact to achieve the wine’s delicate pink colour. They also added a splash of Colombard to lift the acidity. After cold settling, the juice fermented slowly at low temperatures.
The result? A crisp, fruit-forward rosé with bright cherry and strawberry aromas. It tastes light, fresh, and easy to enjoy.
Pour a glass with lunch, a picnic, or just a quiet moment. This rosé brings simple joy to any day.
Opstal Sixpence Rosé 2024 celebrates good wine, good land, and good people — the way Sixpence would’ve liked it.
