THE WINE
The Tin Mine White is Zevenwacht’s flagship white blend — a five-variety wine from Polkadraai Hills vineyards on decomposed granite soils at 200–350m above Stellenbosch. The 2024 is built from 47% Chenin Blanc, 22% Sémillon, 16% Chardonnay, 8% Roussanne and 7% Viognier, with a small portion of Chenin Blanc from the Banghoek Valley adding further complexity.
Fermented in a combination of 500L French oak barrels and concrete eggs, then rested for 10 months on the lees with partial malolactic fermentation. Serious texture. Layered complexity. Punches well above its price point.
TASTING NOTES
Complex aromatics of quince, peach and lime zest with a floral perfume and subtle oak spice. The palate is complex and layered with bright citrus, a creamy texture and a clean mineral finish.
FOOD PAIRING
Grilled fish, crayfish, or poultry dishes. A wine that belongs on the table, not just in the glass.
TRACK RECORD
The Tin Mine White has earned Top 10 status in the Prescient Cape White Blends Report for three consecutive years — including 92 points for the 2022 vintage. The 2023 earned 4½ stars in Platter’s. This is not a one-vintage wonder.
THE DEAL
A five-grape Stellenbosch white blend with a multi-year award pedigree — available to the Vinty Tribe by the case at a price that would make the cellar-door regulars quietly furious. All flavour, no pretence.
