The identity of the producer stays under wraps, but the quality speaks for itself.

Vintage & Terroir

From selected vineyards in the Stellenbosch wine-growing region — South Africa’s most famous appellation for red wine. The combination of warm summers, well-drained soils and cooling afternoon breezes creates ideal conditions for Merlot, allowing the grapes to develop rich, ripe fruit flavours while maintaining the soft, rounded tannin structure that makes this variety so appealing. The 2023 vintage was a fine one for Stellenbosch reds.

In the Cellar

Traditional winemaking with a handcrafted approach — the grapes were fermented in open-top fermenters with gentle hand punchdowns to extract colour and flavour without harsh tannins. After fermentation, the wine was pressed and matured in a combination of French and American oak barrels to add layers of complexity, spice and a gentle smokiness. The result is a wine that’s true to its varietal — elegant, smooth and immediately drinkable.

Tasting Notes

This Merlot is all about red fruit — ripe strawberry, cherry and plum leap from the glass, backed by underlying hints of star anise and smoky aromas. The palate is exceptionally smooth, with soft, well-integrated tannins and a long, fruit-driven finish. Elegant yet complex, this is the kind of Merlot that reminds you why the grape became so popular in the first place. Drink now, or age for another 2–3 years.

Food Pairing

A brilliant partner for grilled fillet steak topped with Camembert and a blackberry reduction, or blue cheese and crispy bacon pasta. Also lovely with roast lamb, mushroom risotto, or a simple margherita pizza straight from the oven. Serve at 16–18°C.
