The Producer
Clos Malverne is a family-owned estate rooted in the Devon Valley of Stellenbosch — a pocket known for its cooling breezes, rolling vineyards, and consistently elegant wines. The focus here has always been on balance: wines that are expressive but never overworked, made to be enjoyed rather than overanalysed.
Clos Malverne has built a reputation for approachable, quality-driven wines that deliver across the board — from still to sparkling. This Sparkling Brut sits firmly in that lane: accessible, well-made, and ready for any moment that calls for a glass.
Vintage & Terroir
As a Non-Vintage sparkling wine, consistency is the goal. Fruit is sourced and blended to maintain a reliable house style — fresh, aromatic, and vibrant.
Stellenbosch’s Mediterranean climate, with warm days and cooling afternoon breezes, allows Sauvignon Blanc to retain its natural acidity while developing bright, expressive fruit. The result is a base wine that is crisp, clean, and perfectly suited to sparkling production.
In the Cellar
Grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, then destalked and crushed. A short 24-hour skin contact at low temperatures helps extract flavour while maintaining freshness.
After gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at 13–15°C to preserve aromatics. The wine is then left on the lees for extended contact, adding subtle texture and depth.
Carbonation occurs at bottling using a high-end system, ensuring a fine, consistent bubble and a smooth, elegant mousse — clean, precise, and ready to pour.
Tasting Notes
Light, lively, and fruit-forward. The nose shows notes of litchi, pear, and gooseberry, carrying through onto a crisp palate.
Fresh acidity keeps everything bright and clean, with a refreshing finish that makes this an easy, versatile drinker. No fuss — just good, honest sparkle.
Food Pairing
Made for easy moments and good company. Serve well chilled and pair with fresh oysters, sushi, summer salads, or a light chicken dish.
It also holds its own as a welcome drink — the kind of bottle you open before the table is even set. One bottle rarely feels like enough.
