Description
The Forager Red Blend 2022 is a bold and expressive union of 80% Shiraz and 20% Grenache, sourced from dryland vineyards across Paarl, Wellington, and Malmesbury. These 16–25-year-old bush vines grow in a mix of decomposed granite, shale, and alluvial soils—each bringing unique depth and character to the final blend.
In the glass, the wine reveals dark, brooding fruit with a whisper of spice. Think blackberries, cherries, and cracked pepper, underpinned by earthy tones and a savoury edge. The Shiraz brings bold structure and richness, while the Grenache lifts the blend with a supple, red-fruited charm.
This is a medium- to full-bodied red with enough weight for wintery fare, but enough finesse to sip slowly by the fire. Serve it just below room temperature (16°C–18°C) for optimal enjoyment.
It pairs beautifully with grilled or barbecued beef, pan-roasted duck, or hearty braised dishes. With 4–5 years of ageing potential, it will develop further complexity in the bottle.
The Forager Red Blend 2022 captures the thrill of discovery—blending soil, sun, and instinct into a red that rewards both curiosity and patience.

“ Deep red in colour. Aromas of red fruit. Full bodied, moderately tannic, dry and moderately acidic. Tastes of cherry and raspberry with a subtle pepper finish. Well balanced, moderate length. Lacking a little in complexity. A very easy and straightforward drinker.” – SM
