Description
A Tribute to Endurance & Adventure
This is no ordinary Pinot Noir. It is a tribute to one of the greatest survival stories of all time and a personal piece of the Stettyn family’s history. The wine is named in honour of Sir Ernest Shackleton and his legendary Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition. A member of the Stettyn family was part of the crew on the vessel ‘Endurance’, which famously became trapped in the ice. This wine celebrates the spirit of perseverance, leadership, and the courage it took to overcome impossible odds.
Elegance from an Unlikely Terroir
Growing the notoriously delicate Pinot Noir grape requires its own form of endurance, especially in the rugged terroir of the Worcester foothills. Here, on the edge of the Karoo, the Stettyn winemakers have coaxed a wine of remarkable elegance and complexity from the unforgiving landscape. This Shackleton Pinot Noir is a testament to that dedication.
In the glass, it presents a beautiful bright ruby colour. The palate is light-bodied and silky, dancing with flavours of fresh red cherry, wild raspberry, and subtle earthy undertones reminiscent of a forest floor. Fine-grained tannins and a bright acidity provide a beautifully balanced and long-lasting finish.
From a Cellar of Acclaimed Wines
While this unique Pinot Noir stands on its own, it comes from the Stettyn cellar—a producer consistently recognised for outstanding quality and value across their range with accolades from top awards like Veritas and Michelangelo.
