The Producer
Stettyn Family Vineyards is one of the Breede River Valley’s most storied estates, with roots stretching back to 1714 when Governor Chavonnes of the Dutch East India Company granted the original farm to Free Burghers whose ancestors hailed from Stettin in former Prussia. Acquired by the Botha family in 1818, the estate has been lovingly farmed for eight generations. Today, under the guidance of winemaker JM Crafford and CEO Sarel Meyer, 438 hectares of vineyard thrive in the sheltered valley between Villiersdorp and Worcester. The Griffin emblem, borrowed from the coat of arms of Szczecin, stands guard over every bottle.
Vintage & Terroir
The Tobie range is Stettyn’s easy-drinking, everyday collection — wines made for good times, not cellaring debates. This Sauvignon Blanc from the 2025 vintage thrives in the cooler, elevated pockets of the Worcester ward where morning mists and afternoon breezes preserve the grape’s trademark zippy acidity and aromatic intensity. The 2025 season delivered ideal conditions for crisp, expressive whites.
In the Cellar
The grapes were harvested in the cool early morning hours to lock in freshness. After gentle pressing, the juice was cold-settled and fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks to preserve the vibrant tropical and green fruit character. No oak was used — this is all about pure, unadulterated Sauvignon Blanc enjoyment.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Pale straw with a bright green tint.
Nose: Zesty and aromatic — cut grass, gooseberry and passion fruit leap from the glass, with a hint of green fig and white asparagus.
Palate: Crisp and refreshing, with lively tropical fruit, green apple and a citrusy zing. Light-bodied and perfectly balanced between fruit and acidity.
Finish: Clean and lingering, with a grapefruit-tinged farewell that keeps you coming back for more.
Food Pairing
Perfect with fresh linefish and lemon, a green salad with feta and avo, or creamy pasta with pesto. A crowd-pleaser at any braai alongside chicken sosaties. Serve well chilled at 8–10°C.
