Part of the Lekker Labels, the Steel Wines Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 is a lighter expression of a usually bolder varietal. Medium-bodied, fresh, and approachable, it captures the purity of fruit, balanced acidity, and fine tannins — perfect for sharing around a campfire or a relaxed evening with friends.
Vintage & Terroir
Sourced from vineyards near the Breede River in Robertson and Bonnievale, planted in the late 1990s on largely “Karoo Rooi” soils with pockets of limestone and shale. The 2021 vintage brought balanced ripening, producing fruit with vibrant character and freshness.
In the Cellar
Grapes were crushed and destemmed, then fermented in open-top bins with a neutral, non-flavour forming yeast. Gentle daily punch downs ensured optimal extraction. The wine was pressed and racked into old 500-litre French oak barrels for 9 months to add subtle texture and structure, then lightly filtered and fined before bottling.
