The Story: The Rebel Block

On a renowned Swartland farm, there’s a block of Chenin Blanc vines that refuses to conform. Planted 51 years ago and farmed without irrigation, these old vines have roots that run deep, pulling character directly from the earth. Their grapes are consistently different—more intense, more structured, and with a mineral-driven personality all their own. This is the “rebel block.”

Each year, this small, precious harvest is handled with the utmost care. We were fortunate enough to convince the winemaker to part with a small parcel of the 2022 vintage, exclusively for the Vinty tribe. It’s a chance to taste a wine that tells the story of a very specific, very special piece of land.

While this exact 2022 vintage is an exclusive, unrated Vinty release, the wine from this exact cellar has a formidable track record. The previous vintage was awarded an incredible ★★★★½ (4.5 Stars) by Platter’s Wine Guide and was a nominee for ‘Superquaffer of the Year’. What’s in the Bottle?

This is a masterclass in balanced, structured Chenin Blanc. The old vines and dry-land farming deliver concentration and a complexity you can’t replicate.

On the nose: A beautiful golden wheat colour, with aromas of fresh green apple, quince jelly, and a hint of wet stone.
On the palate: The palate is layered and complex. Crisp acidity provides a vibrant backbone for notes of pear and chalky minerality, leading to a long and satisfying finish.
